Stages of Pelargonium incrassatum inflorescence development are depicted in the photo taken at Naries near Springbok in August. From the bunch of green buds in the centre close to the leaves, to the mature cluster at the back turning into fruit, four stages are present on the plant.

Note that buds are present in all four the umbels, although only a few on the older ones. Whether they will all open is debatable. Every production phase operates at maximum capacity, whether subsequent ones will be able to see through the project to fruition and seeding or not (Manning, 2009; Eliovson, 1990).
