Pteronia onobromoides stem-tip

The young Pteronia onobromoides stem-tip is covered in simple, alternate leaves. They are sessile and ascending, in good shape as no herbivore has taken a bite here. The leaf-shape is oblong to lanceolate, the tip pointed and the base tapering. 

On this plant the leaves are hairy, a feature that may not be consistent for the species. The midrib is sunken, the blade halves beside it convex on top. The leaf margins are rigidly ciliate, bearing short, hard, whitish bristles (Hulley, et al, 2010: Ethnobotany, leaf anatomy, essential oil composition and antibacterial activity of Pteronia onobromoides (Asteraceae).
