    The long, narrow Pteronia pallens leaves emerge from the stems all the way up to the flowerhead clusters at the top. The upper surfaces of the leaves are shallowly channelled and just perceptibly curved down.

    The yellow, tubular disc florets diverge abruptly from where they are free from the clutch of the involucre. Being bisexual, the florets exert stamens and branched styles in turn, the pollinator’s task made easy.

    All the floral parts save the involucre are yellow, sometimes tending towards orange (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
