Senegalia caffra flowering in the Waterberg

The flowers of Senegalia caffra trees are borne in creamy white spikes, consistent with the flower structure of their recently erected Senegalia genus.

Flowering happens in spring, the spikes emerging in conspicuous clusters or fascicles from upper leaf axils and present a clear message to pollinators. The flower spikes become yellower with age. The pods that follow are dark brown, straight or slightly curved with finely velvety surfaces (Coates Palgrave, 2002).
