Romulea vlokii flower

The flowers of Romulea vlokii grow solitary at stem-tips, facing up on fairly short pedicels. The bracts below the flower are lined and mottled in brown, differing from the bracts of the otherwise similar species, R. cruciata.

The six pink tepal tips of R. vlokii are pointed and spreading. The cup-shaped corolla base is yellow to orange, lined in blue purple. Flower diameter is about 3 cm.

Flowering happens in winter and early spring (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
