The two, usually hairy leaves of Strumaria gemmata spread on the ground in opposite directions. Usually prostrate or recurved, they grow in winter after the flowering. The erect scape sometimes coincides with the leaves, standing next to them. The leaf tips are rounded.
The visible marginal hairiness is soft, sparse and long. The blades in picture are glossy, as well as uneven from prominent, longitudinal vein lines. The leaves are sometimes glabrous, meaning hairless.
The leaf dimensions are about 20 cm long and 5 mm to 25 mm wide (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist; https://www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
