    The lower leaf surfaces of Salvia disermas have prominent whitish venation on the angled-up halves of the green blades, the nearly straight midribs dominant.

    Green and brown calyces persist after flowering, more functional in durable ovary protection than the flashy corollas that served other purposes for a shorter while (Manning, 2009; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; iNaturalist).
