The flowers of Salvia dolomitica, the Pilgrim’s Rest pink sage, have pale pink corollas, but may also be lilac or nearly white.
The upper lip of the corolla forms a hood at the top. It is narrow, curving downwards gracefully and usually with a stamen protruding from under it. The lower corolla lip is broad with two laterally spreading lobes.
The calyx has a deep pinkish to magenta colour, darker than the corolla and green at the base with dark magenta lines running along it.
The leaves are opposite, light green and covered in fine grey hairs. They are elliptic with pointed or occasionally rounded tips and have entire, wavy margins (www.waynesword.palomar.edu; Manning, 2009).
