Satyrium trinerve spreading bracts

    Satyrium trinerve spreading bracts
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The photo shows how the floral bracts of Satyrium trinerve spread horizontally rather than point down as is typical among satyriums. Said to be green with broad white margins, the bracts in picture are uniformly pale greyish cream. The lance-shaped bracts taper to acutely pointed tips, varying in length from 7 cm to 18 cm (Pooley, 1998; www.zimbabweflora.co.zw).
