    The flower of Solanum campylacanthum subsp. panduriforme has a mauve corolla spreading widely or even recurving as the five lobe-tips are doing in the photo.

    The narrow, yellow-green and velvety lobes of the calyx point forward in the buds that still hide their corollas on the left, while on the right they are forced to spread by the push of the upper floral parts.

    Note the flower stalk lengths representing the different flowering stages. The white style emerging from the midst of the yellow anther cluster has a green tip, the stigma. The anthers have their bases in the corolla tube, releasing pollen through slits at the top end when ripe (Pooley, 1998; Van Wyk and Malan, 1997; iSpot).
