The central tuft of Tetragonia microptera leaves starts the plant off before the prostrate branches spread around it. These leaves may retain their size advantage over those produced later on the stems, or they yellow before the rest.
The cluster of yellowish flowers growing from the leaf axils is dense around the leaf stalks.
Stems and leaf margins are sometimes red, the internodes long (Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
