When conditions are good, Tetragonia microptera leaves may be erect on their stalks, lush and thickly succulent with surfaces rough from short hairs. The leaf-shape is more angular here than the ovate form commonly seen.
The outer surfaces of the perianth segments are also hairy on the stubby, mainly closed flowers clustered at the axils (Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
