The numerous leaves of Trachyandra bulbinifolia grow tufted from the base. They are linear to gradually tapering towards their slightly curved tips, often curling when young. The leaf colour is usually grey-green, in picture olive green and shiny. Leaf texture is fleshy and either smooth or fringed. Leaves become 18 cm long and 5 mm wide.

A collar of pale, fringed scales surrounds the base of the plant on the ground, not visible in the sand in the photo.

The specific name, bulbinifolia, likens the leaves to those of plants belonging to the Bulbine genus (Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
