Trachyandra falcata two rows of flowers

The white, round-tipped Trachyandra falcata flower tepals are brown-striped down the centre of each blade on both surfaces. They spread without full conviction here in the half-open flowers, at least managing about two rows of open flowers simultaneously.

Pale yellow anthers surround each thin, white style that is tipped by a tiny stigma in the flower centre. The lower parts of the outside surfaces of the tepals are hairy. Fruit of this species are hairless.

The small secondary branch of the inflorescence panicle in view below is younger, its bracts over the buds still green, compared to the brown-tipped ones above the open flowers of the main branch where the buds are closer to opening.

The bracts taper, their exposed bases still white, while the narrow brown bract tips exceed the almost ready buds in length (Manning, 2007; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997).
