The calyx of a Zygophyllum debile flower consists of five elliptic, acutely pointed lobes. The pale green surfaces are smooth, hairless and turn pale yellow over time, lasting much longer than the petals.
Behind petals the calyx tips spread and even recurve, later over the fruit they converge in protective fashion.
The pedicels straighten or curve to show the flower faces, but buds and developing fruits droop (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; JSTOR).
