    When the Zygophyllum foetidum flower has lost its petals and the filaments form a ring around the ovary, the toothed filament appendages near the stamen bases are on display. The persistent calyx also obliges by starting to bend back, not obscuring the view, although the sepal tips still curve in.

    The green style is notably longer than the stamens, the stigma at its tip minute (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2009).
