    Abundant fruit production is evident here. These ovoid green fruits of Zygophyllum foetidum were seen growing in the Rooiberg in October. Some of the smaller, younger fruits still have the pale yellow sepals attached, reflexed far back around the stalks. The persistent white styles are also still present on the fruits.

    The soft, fleshy aspect characterising the new growth of this shrub, including the young stems, can be observed in the photo (Manning, 2009; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010).
