Brunia noduliflora fractal curves

Before the Brunia noduliflora florets open and their long stamens dominate the flowerhead surfaces, the fractal appearance of the floret alignment is more striking. The elegant curves formed by bud line-ups on the spheres lend aesthetic appeal lacking in the florets or buds themselves (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
