The Brachylaena elliptica leaf may have no toothing, the margins here entire. The obovate leaf is somewhat three-lobed near the tip and tapering to the narrow base. The mature blade is smooth and dull green to dark green with minimal gloss.
The few, branching lateral veins start in the upper half of the leaf, the midrib conspicuous lower down. A very short petiole may be present, if any (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Pooley, 1993).
