The closed Drosanthemum schoenlandianum flower is solitary on a long, hairy stalk from among the leaves at the tip of a short side-branch. The flower stalk is pale-coloured, covered in hairs tending to point downwards.

The soft, white petals are oblong with rounded tips. Flowering happens in winter. The photo was taken in August.

The stalk becomes orange in the fruiting stage. The bluntly pointed sepal lobes persist as they dry. The fruit is bell-shaped at its base.

When it is ripe, rain causes the five valves on top of the capsule to open, allowing seeds to disperse. When dry again the valves close, retaining the remaining seeds until the next drizzle (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Smith, et al, 1998; Herre, 1971; iNaturalist).
