The oldest Diosma prama stem in picture is red-brown, the younger ones creamy white. The spaced leaves spiral up some stems. They may also be densely clustered near the stem-tips.
The leaves are ericoid, ascending on the old stem where they are bigger, particularly longer. The thick, oblong leaves are stalkless, blunt-tipped and light green, mid-green to dark green, faint hairiness sometimes seen.
The glands concentrated near the leaf midribs exude their characteristic, sweetish buchu scent (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist; www.plantzafrica.com).
