    The yellowish green leaves of the sparsely branched Diosma prama bush are only present on the upper stems. They clearly receive all the sun they need in this Kouga renosterveld, where they happen to be taller than the renosterbos.

    If fire stays away, the veld will continue its steady growth, as browsing of both the shrubs in picture is rare. Diosma may, however, attract browsers when young after fire in new veld. As D. prama is a reseeder, the browsing of many seedlings will add risk (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist).
