Diosma pedicellata flowers

The white or cream flowers of Diosma pedicellata grow solitary from leaf axils. The species has pedicels (stalks) on its flowers as the specific name suggests.

It may not have petals though; the plant commonly called the petalless bitterbuchu. This may be true, judging from the photo as there seems to be only one whorl of star-shaped, pointed lobes, maybe sepals(?), forming a cup. The five cream coloured anthers are exserted beyond the flower mouth, not as far as the pointed sepal or petal tips.

Flowering happens from midwinter to spring (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
