Adromischus maculatus and no rain

One may walk in the Karoo for hours without seeing any. Then unexpectedly, growing close together, there will be several of whatever succulent one was hoping to find. When they’re small and hidden under the bushes like Adromischus maculatus usually grows, the find is sweeter. Attuned to taking pleasure from rarer species spotting brings satisfying plant, animal and bird encounters on every hike. On days when a specific, less common plant is the purpose of the walk, the experience of other wondrous sightings becomes incidental but saves the day if the target is missed. And the day out is for many the thing.
