Colchicum scabromarginatum before the flowers

Before the flowers of Colchicum scabromarginatum open between the two prostrate leaves, erect bracts fold over the nascent buds like a shark-fin or green sails of a boat on the sand. Apart from these floral promises there are not many sailboats seen in Namaqualand (Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
