Clutia ericoides is a small shrublet that flowers profusely dring late autumn and winter. This photo was taken in May.
Young and old flowers display different angles of spread in petals and sepals. The petals are here slightly bigger than the sepals that have a darker colour and a harder job of initially covering the petals in the bud stage.
The flowers on a male bush (of this dioecious species) are expected to be slightly smaller than here (female flowers are 5 mm in diameter, male ones 3 mm).
The leaves show tapering to pointed tips, something of the channelled upper surface and bulging on the lower one (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
