River vegetation

The Biedouw River flowing through a valley of plant-covered Cederberg rock waters much unspoilt terrain; also takes water away from it. This scenic countryside is well within reach of Western Cape weekend sightseers.

The Biedouw Mountains to the north and the Tra-tra Mountains to the south are coated in a rich diversity of flowering plants, mainly fynbos and succulent Karoo.

The thorn tree, Vachellia karroo, will mainly be seen close to the river. Bulbs like Lapeirousia, herbs like Senecio and annuals like Ursinia venture here and further away, even up the slopes where shrubs may be small outside the ravines.
