Phylica lachneaeoides

This young Phylica lachneaeoides plant was seen on a stony slope in the Kouga during May. The plant is loosely and sparsely branched.

Young, creamy yellow stems are covered in ascending leaves, the older grey ones are soon bare. The inflorescences are small, pale pink flower clusters at stem-tips.

Grass and renosterbos grow in the stony loam soil among the plants (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
