The trifoliolate Oxalis ciliaris var. ciliaris leaves consist of narrow, folded-in or channelled leaflets. The leaves form a green cluster at the top of the erect stem.
Several solitary flowers grow from the stem-tip. They extend on long pedicels far beyond the leaves. After flowering, the five sepals of each flower protect the five-loculed ovary that grew above the petal and filament bases.
The five ovary locules each had its own style during the floral stage and will at the end of fruiting dehisce separately to release their seed (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
