    Erica sparsa also lives at Nature’s Valley. It is a reseeder growing a single stem.

    Dense clusters of small pale pink flowers do little to conceal their dark anthers while the petals are not even in the reckoning as far as the far-exserted styles are concerned. Although the flower structure favours easy pollination, there are hundreds of them in season to make very sure, as the plant grows from seedlings only after fire (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist).
