The flower centre of Huernia procumbens is dominated by the bulging, fleshy annulus, the red-purple ring inside the five spreading corolla lobes and around the corona in the flower centre. This annulus becomes up to 6 mm in diameter, contrasting in colour against the pale surrounding corolla lobes that are slender and spreading.
The outer corona consists of five light brown lobes, erect and angling outwards slightly. They are fleshy, tapering slightly to their rounded tips. The outer corona is 3.5 mm in diameter, 3 mm tall. The smaller inner corona, also five-pointed, lies flat in the centre over the staminal column, its lobes triangular and fleshy.
The plant flowers mainly from mid-spring to midsummer, but usually whenever it receives rain (Hardy and Fabian, 1992; http://llifle.com).
