The flowers of Haemanthus pubescens subsp. pubescens grow on a peduncle of up to 28 cm long, sometimes only 5 cm. It may be from red to white and is sometimes hairy.
There are four to seven, large, spoon-shaped spathe bracts around the flowers at the top of the peduncle. The bracts have pointed tips, slightly taller than the flowers in their midst. The head resembles an inverted cone or bell. The bracts may be scarlet, pink, red-orange or rarely white.
The flowerhead measures from 2,5 cm to 12,5 cm in diameter (Duncan, et al, 2016; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
