Heliophila juncea few-flowered

The straight green stems of Heliophila juncea predominate in the shrub when the flowers are few. Hardly a withered leaf is in sight at this time in spring. Branching occurs low down most of the time.

The narrow, dark flower buds are erect, higher up in the racemes than the open flowers. Once open, the flowers mostly face outwards, the petals not widely spread on the plant in the photo (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Manning, 2007; iSpot).
