Heliophila juncea grows erect racemes that may bear many small flowers.
The stems in picture are blue-green in their lower parts, mainly pale beige-brown towards the top. This may indicate a dry period that inflicted plant damage, although the flowering is still vigorous.
The flowers are not widely open and few face sideways, most of them nod or droop. Heliophila flowers generally are known for closing at night or in cool weather (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Manning, 2007; iSpot).
