To the right of the open Hesperantha baurii subsp. baurii flowers in picture a bud has pushed its still closed tepals up above the bracts. They are rosy red to white in uneven, vein-dominated colouring, very different from the bright pink open flowers. To the left of the flowers a younger bud still has its bracts covering the corolla.
A spike of these flowers may consist of six to fifteen, sometimes eighteen flowers (Manning, 2009; iNaturalist; https://www.worldfloraonline.org).
