Helichrysum moeserianum inflorescence

The Helichrysum moeserianum inflorescence comprises numerous flowerheads, from cylindrical to bell-shaped, densely together in a flat-topped structure.

Narrower, green-tipped buds are interspersed with open disc florets, widening and showing yellow from the critical moment. The open flowers present five spreading lobes that are acutely pointed to form small star-shapes, the lobes or petals hairy.

Helichrysum species usually have female florets in the outer parts of the disc, fertile or bisexual ones towards to the centre of each flowerhead. There don’t seem to be more than about five florets per flowerhead here. Flowerheads become up to 4 mm wide and 3 mm long (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996).
