Habenaria mossii floral hairs

The visible corolla or perianth segments of Habenaria mossii are hairy in the photo, while the column parts are smooth, some shiny.

The upper lobes of the bilobed petals in picture are particularly hairy, adhering to the sides of the dorsal sepal, although not quite reaching its tip. The out-curving lower petal lobes as well as the three lip lobes pointing down are also hairy.

The rostellum arms protruding forward, (porrect) from the centre of the column are very shiny, more so than the rostellum’s less prominent triangular central lobe. The anthers above are whitish and pale grey (www.orchidspecies.com).
