Long thin spurs are seen here on the Habenaria pseudociliosa flowers, longer than the ovaries. The curving spurs are cream-coloured in the photo apart from some red-brown sections. They grow from below the back part of the lip, the resupinate lowest segment of the flower perianth. The tips of the spurs are slightly inflated.
H. pseudociliosa has a longer spur than H. ciliosa, the spur of which is about equal to the ovary in length or shorter; the spur length of H. pseudociliosa is about 1,5 times that of its ovary. The two species have been confused and sometimes thought to be the same.
The lanceolate floral bracts are also to be seen here among the flowers, hairy and tapering to acutely pointed tips (www.africanorchids.dk; www.orchidspecies.com).
