Anemone vesicatoria, blister-leaf or in Afrikaans brandblaar (burn leaf) or katjiedrieblaar (kitten three leaf) grows a tuft of trifoliolate dark green basal leaves, usually on long stalks. The leaflets are ovate with pointy tips, sometimes rounded. They may show distinct net-veining and their margins are toothed.

The plant grows a horizontal rootstock and fleshy roots. This hardy perennial herb is a shade plant of the fynbos area. It is mostly found under bushes, trees, at forest margins or among taller scrub (www.fernkloof.com; www.plantzafrica.com; JSTOR).
