Sutera foetida leaves

The opposite, long-stalked leaves of Sutera foetida are unpleasantly scented, a feature captured in the specific name, foetida, a Latin word meaning that or stinking.

The ovate leaves taper to bluntly pointed or rounded tips. The margins are unevenly and roundly toothed or scalloped and rolled under. A few lateral veins ascend from the midrib and curve in, sunken on the upper surface and prominent on the lower one.

The fresh green upper blade surfaces are paler below. The leaf dimensions are about 4,5 cm long and 2,5 cm wide (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
