A long-stalked, trifoliolate leaf of Argyrolobium rupestre subsp. rupestre consists of three unstalked, elliptic leaflets with infolding blades and protruding hair-like tips. The green to dark green blades are darker on top and often finely hairy. The entire leaflet margins are silver-haired. The leaflet midribs are slightly prominent below.

The flowers grow in short racemes at stem-tips. The yellow, peaflower-like flowers have big, recurving banner petals and small wings are close beside the keels. The calyx and the outside of the corolla are hairy. The flowers turn orange with age. Flowering happens in spring and summer (Trauseld, 1969; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org).
