A Hebenstretia dura flower spike becomes from 3 cm to 8 cm long. The flowers angle up around the stem, the open ones much longer than the green sepal-covered buds at the top. The flowers are sessile, i.e. without pedicels. The plants are sometimes hairy.
Plant parts are sometimes mixed with fat for making a perfumed ointment (Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
