Schlechteranthus albiflorus capsules

The dry fruit capsules of Schlechteranthus albiflorus are hard and woody, facing up as the flowers did before. There are from about eight to twelve valve-covered locules per capsule on these fruits. The closed valves bulge slightly above, the base of the capsule body funnel-shaped. Valve wings are present and the expanding keels diverge abruptly to their tips. The seed cavities are shallow. Covering membranes are present, the closing bodies white and large.

The seeds are smooth, each with a nipple attachment (Smith, et al, 1998; Herre, 1971; iNaturalist).
