    The tubular, often orange to orange-red flowers of Leonotis leonurus have lower lobes that are curled back. The slightly curved corollas are about 4 cm long.

    Sunbirds are important in the pollination of L. leonurus flowers, the nectar rich flowers important in the sunbird diets (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020).
