    The narrowly lance-shaped leaves of Leonotis leonurus among the flowers in the photo have indentations along the upper leaf surfaces where the veins occur. Spaced toothing is just noticeable on parts of the leaf margins.

    White stamens are visible protruding from the flower mouths that are hairier than the rest of the corolla tubes. The lower lobes of the two-lipped flowers curl back.

    Where corollas have withered or dropped off from the lower whorl of flowers in picture, the toothed upper margins of the calyx tubes are visible (Manning, 2009).
