Gloveria integrifolia flowers

The flowers of Gloveria integrifolia may push their five cream petals well back, as if petals might be encumbrances getting in the way of the planned pollinator action among the more important floral parts.

The usual hint of pink on the fleshy petals is faintly present, less so than on some plants flaunting bold colour. Petal-shape is lanceolate to elliptic with rounded tips, somewhat curved even further back than the blades are already.

The five stamens spread like cartwheel spokes from behind the fleshy green disc in the centre. Their short, multi-lobed anthers are beige and smooth, positioned for releasing pollen towards the flower centre. The whitish filaments are thinnest where they attach to the anthers.

The ovary bulges from the centre of the disc, topped by a short style ending in a lobed stigma (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Coates Palgrave, 2002; iNaturalist).
