The leaves of Halleria elliptica are elliptic or ovate in shape, tapering at both tip and base. The texture is leathery, the colour is pale green to yellowish green.

The leaf margins are variable; sometimes serrated, nearly entire or finely toothed, also tending to be rolled under.

The petioles (leaf stalks) are about 5 mm long (Coates Palgrave, 2002).
