Calpurnia woodii flowers

The flowers of Calpurnia woodii grow in large, compact, axillary or terminal panicles. The inflorescences are usually borne upright, in the photo not all of them manage that. There may be from ten to a hundred flowers in one panicle.

The flower shape resembles that of a pea-flower. The calyx is very hairy. The corolla is yellow and orange (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Beaumont, et al, Bothalia 29/1, pp 5-23, 1999).
