Calpurnia woodii

Calpurnia woodii, commonly the woolly calpurnia, is a compact, branched shrub that reaches 2 m in height. Young stems are whitish from a hairy covering, the plant generally hairy.

The distribution is confined to an area in northern KwaZulu-Natal at elevations around 1500 m. The species is considered vulnerable due to its very restricted distribution, overgrazing and too frequent fires (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Beaumont, et al, Bothalia 29/1, pp 5-23, 1999; www.redlist.sanbi.org).
