The leaves of Apodytes dimidiata are ovate to elliptic. They are very glossy bright green on the upper surfaces. The lower surface is paler, sometimes slightly hairy with a pinkish hue around the base, close to the petiole. The leaf apex may be notched or tapering; the base broad and tapering.

The fruit of the white pear is a black nut with a kidney-shaped fleshy appendix on the side. This fleshy part changes colour from green to red and later black (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997).
